Kannawidan Festival is festive of Ilocos Sur that celebrates its being a separate province from Ilocos Norte last February 02, 1818. In this year, it was held on January28 to February 17. The festival begins with a mass at St. Paul Cathedral on January 28 to show and express how thankful the Ilocanos are for all the blessings from God. Kannawidan Festival tackles all aspect from the talent of children to adults, during the festival every town are required to display their product in their own booth. The Department of Education is also required to participate as they have their own day in the festival week. They have a choir contest for the students and the teachers. During this festival, we can see the old and the new traditions of the Ilocanos. In the festival the provincial government recognizes the outstanding performances of the barangays and the schools. They also promote the abel Iloco by a fashion show. This festival shows how cooperative, hardworking, and creative Ilocanos are. With this festival we learned that as a province, we will continue with its glorious past in achieving more glorious future. As we work as one, we can stand and fight no matter what catastrophe may come in our province.

SONA 2018

                Last July 23, 2018, at 4 o’clock p.m., when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered his third SONA. The speech which lasted for about 48 minutes was so far his shortest speech. It is straight to the point speech. SONA or State of the Nation Address wherein the President will discuss the present situation of the country. He will discuss what program did he accomplished for the betterment of his countrymen.                 The SONA of President Duterter started with a greeting to the entire guest who attended the affair at the Batasang Pambansa. It is not usual for me to write to the president of the country, to you. I am a student, currently in Grade10 in Ilocos Sur National High School. This letter of mine is my way to express my opinion and to call your attention regarding our situation in our school because of the K-12.                Usually our school has a lot of enrollees but this year, it came to the point that our school needs to implement shifting of classes for the grade 9 and 10 students.
